Welcome Message from the Conference Chairman

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 1st South East Asia Interventional Psychiatry Conference (SEAIPIC) 2026. As the first conference of its kind in Malaysia, SEAIPIC marks an important milestone in advancing interventional psychiatry across the region. This conference is proudly organised through the collaboration of Neuropsychiatry Malaysia, NEURON Hospital Permai, Monash University, and Rumah Sakit Soerojo, Indonesia, reflecting our shared commitment to innovation, education, and regional partnership.

Interventional psychiatry is rapidly transforming mental healthcare. Many of its evidence-based interventions are not only effective, but also safer, more affordable, and easier to implement than ever before. These advantages make it possible to extend part of its specialised psychiatric services beyond tertiary centres to district hospitals and home-based service, improving access to quality care for more patients.

As psychiatrists, we are well trained in psychotherapy. It is now equally important that we become proficient in hands-on interventional psychiatry, expanding our therapeutic skills to provide more comprehensive and personalised treatment for our patients.

SEAIPIC 2026 has been designed to combine scientific knowledge with practical application. Join us to explore the full spectrum of contemporary interventional psychiatry, including the benzodiazepine challenge test, ketamine therapies, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in challenging cases, home-based transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), administrative strategies for service implementation, and hands-on practical training led by experienced experts.

Whether you are new to interventional psychiatry or looking to refine your expertise, I hope SEAIPIC 2026 will inspire collaboration, foster new skills, and strengthen our collective efforts to advance psychiatric care throughout Southeast Asia.

I look forward to welcoming you to Malaysia for this historic inaugural conference.

Dr. Siti Nor Fadhlina binti Misron
Conference Chairman
1st South East Asia Interventional Psychiatry Conference (SEAIPIC) 2026
